For this lesson, we are looking at podcasts and different educational uses of them, specifically as a way for daily announcements. As a student at Saint James Academy, you know that we have morning and afternoon announcements every day. Depending on where you are in the building, these announcements can be hard to hear. Your goal is to develop a podcast that we could use for daily announcements and post to StudyWiz every day for the SJA Community.

DAY 1

 

Step 1: Building a Foundation


1st: Use the K-W-L (What I Know, Want to Learn, and Learned) Worksheet that was handed out in class. Fill out the K Column (What I know) and the Want to Learn columns.

2nd: Read the following websites. Add information into the L Column of your chart.

Step 2: Find a Real World Example


Next, I want you to search the internet to find a school that podcasts their morning or afternoon announcements. For this search, you can find a school that uses just audio podcasts or a video podcast. Once you have found an example, go to Studywiz and in the discuss forum, paste your link.

Step 4: Trial Run

To practice using Garageband before you being the graded assignment, make a 15-30 second audio clip about what you did over the weekend. You need to open and close your clip with two different sound bytes. You will need to make sure that it is your voice that is being used as well. This will give you practice in recording your voice and the features included in the software. Once you have completed this clip, please post it in the discussion forum on Studywiz for your classmates to hear. An example is below.
